Get Command & Get Help

Exercise 1: Get Command and Get Help

Check Modules

Run the following code. The first command shows all loaded modules in your session (which resets when you close and reopen PowerShell). The second shows all available modules on your system, including those that are not loaded. You can use the -ListAvailable parameter to see all modules installed on your system.

Get-Module
Get-Module -ListAvailable

Find the command you might use to create an EdgeWorker

Remember, PowerShell uses a Verb-Noun format for its commands, and the Akamai.EdgeWorkers module contains all commands related to EdgeWorkers. Use the Get-Command command to find the command you might use to create an EdgeWorker.

If you are unsure which verb is used for creating an object, check the Approved Verbs appendix for a list of common verbs and their intended use.

Remember, you can also limit the modules included in your Get-Module search by using the -Module parameter, which also supports wildcards.

Get-Command *Property* -Module Akamai.Property

Get-Help on your command

Once you've found your command, run Get-Help <command> to see the help documentation for that command. This will give you information on how to use the command, its parameters, and examples. Try out the differences with the -Detailed and -Full parameters to see more information.

Work out the full command

Using the help info from the previous step, work out the full command you would need to create an EdgeWorker. Feel free to use sample values for things like -GroupID, and remember to check the help info for all required parameters. You may include any optional parameters as you see fit, but you must include all required ones in your command.

Re-Check loaded modules

Re-run the Get-Module command from the first step, without the -ListAvailable parameter. Note which modules were auto-loaded in the background.
